Character History and Personality (WIP)

Born to a Sun Seeker father and Moon Keeper mother, Matthias was a child of both worlds. However, he wouldn't know much about the worlds of his parents as they died due to a disease very early on in his life, he was merely a toddler when he was found by a kind Elezen couple in Quarrymill. Because he didn't know his name, they gave him a new one after a particular bed time story where he was enamored by the character named Matthias. He grew to be an avid reader, his imagination the only way to escape the prejudices of the world. It had been obvious, due to his eyes and fangs, that he was a mix of the two clans and was often called a mongrel for it. His adoptive parents, who could not have children of their own, did their best to not let Matthias get too depressed or bullied by it. It certainly wasn't fair, after all, and it didn't matter that he was a child of two clans. What matter was who he was now, in the present.
Matthias took those words to heart. He wanted to be like the heroes of his books and to help those in need. And it was in his teenaged years that he realized his true calling. After a run in with a monster of the Shroud, something he was dared to do from the local bullies or else he wouldn't get his book back, he called upon the elements, a stone raised and flew at the monster and scaring it away. Needless to say, the book had been long forgotten as he revealed this to his parents. He was sent to the conjury guild to hone these skills and learn the art of healing. Needless to say, being a healer was not what he pictured himself doing, but through the teachings and lessons, Matthias grew to be an exceptional healer and realize that one didn't need a weapon to protect those he loved.
It was here, at 25, that he decided to venture out to travel Eorzea. It wouldn't be until he was 29 that something extraordinary happened upon traveling to Limsa Lominsa and here is where the tale of the Warrior of Light begins...
Personality
Despite wanting to be like those heroes in the stories, Matthias is pretty mild-mannered and quiet. He's not shy by any means, but he prefers to observe and listen. Any time he had gained self-confidence as a child, it was the bullies that pushed him down. But, through conjury and his parents, he became the quiet but confident individual that he is today. He would always be thankful for the kind Elezen that adopted him and raised him as their own. Family was important to him because of it, even if they were not related by blood. Matthias believes strongly in family and friendship, although he doesn't have much experience in the latter. Being an outcast meant he had to do many things on his own and Matthias prefers it that way. But he is not unkind about it, it's very rare for him to lose his temper or really become frustrated with someone if they are genuinely trying to help or be nice to him.
That being said, his lack of friends also means he's incredibly awkward around others. Hugs and other touchy-feely gestures between friends or loved ones tends to make him blush and feel uncomfortable, although he'd keep quiet and endure if he had to.
